LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL - MILITARY PENSION (OROP) AND OTHER ISSUES OF VETERANS

My dear Veteran Brothers,
I have got authentic good news for you all.

Maj Gen Satbir Singh and 5 more people of the IESM including the famous Maj D P Singh (bladerunner who lost one leg in operations) had 45 minutes meeting with Raksha Mantri today afternoon. Following emerged after the dialogue:-

1. File with an abridged note from the MOD was sent to Min. of Finance on 23 Feb and verbal approval of Finance Minister was taken by the RM for the OROP.

2. Now the file with full details/breakdowns will reach MoF on 04 March 2015.

3. Formal approval in writing will be taken from MoF by 20 Mar 2015 or so.

4. Notification about the OROP is likely to be issued by 31 Mar 2015 plus minus few days.

5. Widows/Veer-naris will also be covered in the OROP. In 2012, their pensions were not enhanced.

6. Reservations for the ex-servicemen in Private Defence Industries was also discussed.

7. Major's pension and short-service benefits were also discussed.

8. OROP arrears of the last year will be paid in quarterly installments.

  1. When verbal approval of FM was taken by RM on 23 Feb 2015, then how the FM said on 28 Feb 2015, that, the formulae of OROP is being worked out between MOD and SHQ or words to that effect........?

  2. Sir, in the above news given by you in point no 1 that OROP file for approval was sent by MOD with abridged note to MOF on 23 Feb 2015. Where as on 28 Feb our FM after presenting budget in parliament in his an interview states that this OROP scheme is stuck between MOD and SHQ for modalities short out. This way we can see that there is some thing wrong some where.Beside this our IESM officer seems that they worried about only OROP for officers because whenever any delegation is meeting with RM/FM for the issue all the time this is represented by officers. They should know that in PBOR there are JCO and ORs .Navy representative also to be included. Please take care.

  3. What office bearers of associations like IESM need to keep in mind is there are other important issues directly linked to OROP. So far, there has been very little clarity on IESM's stand on these related matters. http://goo.gl/Xf5VhS

  4. There may be other issues like categorization of Military pension and approval of CCPA (Cabinet Committee for (Political Affairs).before the notification of OROP so it may take few months more (latest by 31 Jul 2015) THKS-JCR

  5. If they give broad banding of disability pension letter as per latest SC judgement it would avoid double work in publishing PPOs.

  8. Dear All !
Supreme Court has already decided to all veterans of Ex Army personals, Who has retired with disability PM/ VR Should be provide benefits of disability pension for pre-2006 retirees, In similar cases after 2006 have already providing disability pension as per base of government notification. ! If already providing disability pension to Those persons Who have retired after 2006 on PR/VR . Same Why ? not effective to pre-2006. Many cases are pending in different /various HC entire all over India & in SC. Why not PM/RM/FM considering to Great veterans ,Who are affected to English rules and regulations Which had made by congress government. I want say to all of you due to Mr Narendra Modi (PM) had already been told many rules would be modified which are unjustified as per dialogues/ speech a few month ago. 10. Sir earlier it was confirmed by the DM that orop would be announced before budget. But they did not do so. Our delegation is being made fool every time. I don't believe deadline of 31 Mar will come to be true

  12. After disappointment in the budget, some good news are coming in. We the ESM hope that the OROP will roll out as per scheduled programme given by RM to IESM delegation on Feb 1st, 2015. As per the decision in the working group of MoD, it was suggested that the draft notification and tables are to be made available to concerned ESM organisations for their consent. Hoping for the best.
