Raksha Mantri Manohar Parrikar on Thursday alleged that some
former PMs had compromised the country's "deep
assets" on national security but refrained from naming them.
Parrikar said he did not give details about Coast Guard
ops involving a boat coming from Pakistan as the "source (of
information) might be compromised"."I am not going to disclose names.
Many people know" Parrikar said after releasing a special
issue of the Hindi weekly Vivek, on national security.
Taunting the Congress for demanding evidence on the recent Coast
Guard ops against a Pakistani vessel carrying suspected terrorists, he
said, "However, now a days nothing can be said with certainty as
Congress spokespersons say good things about Modi Govt." Parrikar said
taking a swipe at Janardhan Dwivedi.
Parrikar said there were differing perceptions between India and
China on the Line of Actual Control. "We have not taken the issue of
border security seriously. Tomorrow if war were to take place and at the same
time if there were riots in some parts of the country, it would be difficult
(situation)," Parrikar said.
Highlighting the need for media to exercise restraint on sensitive issues like
terror attacks, Parrikar compared the TV coverage of recent Paris terror
attacks and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks."In Paris, not a single body was
shown and not a drop of blood was seen on TV. Contrast this to our live
coverage. I 'm not criticising but we should have this sense" he said. Similarly, real reason for what happened after Godhra incident
in 2002 was the disturbing photos shown (by media)," Parrikar
said.
"Tomorrow somebody may file a PIL complaining that the decibel
level of firing on the border exceeds 140 decibels after 10 pm norms and that it
disturbs their sleep,"Parrikar said. "Only
exception is loud speakers atop certain holy places where nobody objects even if
the loudspeakers blare till
1 am” he said.
Parrikar said he plans to send Defence Ministry officials to border for 15 days
to sensitize them on hardships faced by armed forces. "Then
maybe several files will be cleared fast" the Defence
Minister said.

Yes.This is nice. As per their status don't give any special accomodation. Give how our men and officers staying. Then they will come to know what is defence service? How they do enjoy at delhi by sitting under the ceiling fan, let them enjoy with us for sometime.
ReplyDeleteThese beaurocats in the MOD make policies sitting not under mere fans but in an AC environment. They must use the tented accommodation with field toilet/bathing facilities. They must be made to live on tinned rations and made too stand guard in field trenches to make them understand the life of a soldier. But in reality they enjoy the five star life even in these so called study tours.
DeleteGood plan Mr Def - min 15 day's is too short make it at least 01 month.
ReplyDeleteDM sir please send all the people from mod to border areas.please do that sir
ReplyDeleteWithin a few weeks RM has sensed the real problem and it is a good sign of coming 'Achhe din' for defence personnel both serving as well as retired. Only sending them is not enough. I have the opinion that all the 'BABUs' both top and middle level should undergo basic military training and serve in the Military in uniform at least for a month
ReplyDeleteWith the same Military service conditions.
At last the present RM has agreed and made public that the BADA BABUs in the MoD are the culprits creating hurdles and misinterpret matters related to armed forces personnel. This fact was relentlessly pointing out by ESM assns to the Govt for last many years. It is a good idea to send the MoD Babu's to border areas where the soldiers are serving to sense the difficulties for 15 days. It is my humble opinion to RM that simply sending them will not serve the purpose fully. All the top and middle level Babu's in the ministries should undergo basic military training and make them serve in uniform for at least one month with the same military service conditions.
ReplyDeleteSince desw hates disabled soldiers and block their small disability pensions sending them to border areas is not good since frost bitten people have to be paid disability pension and the dept hates it
ReplyDeleteBeing a few weeks only as Raksha Manthri, Sh.Manohar Parrikar has revealed a truth that matters relating to Armed Forces personnel both serving and retired are scuttled by MoD officials. The indication of RM planning to send them to border areas to sensitise the difficulties facing the soldiers. We, the ESM assns were saying the same thing to the Govt since so many years. We are happy that at least now the problem has been identified by the RM himself and will deal accordingly. Now ESM can expect the 'ACHHE DIN' will be a reality.
