SO YOU THOUGHT EVERYTHING IS FREE IN ARMED FORCES.... WELL, YOU ARE VERY RIGHT ... THE LIVES PROTECTING YOU ARE FREE..... THE SOLDIERS DIE FOR FREE

Dear all,

Strange are the policies of Govt., be it Central or State.

An anti-social activist (docoit or naxalite) is offered about 10 lakhs to shun violence and join mainstream society. After he kills hordes of people, destroys public and private properties and surrenders.  This is done, due to medical and fitness problems, with an eye on what Govt offers. What is more they are given huge publicity, free of cost. e.g. Bandit queen becoming an MP and a Ph D scholar becoming a familiar face after shouting anti-national slogans.

People die in accidents, (bus/rail/air) and natural calamities, the Govts give cash compensations.

Employee die in election duties, huge compensation is paid.

A DP Cost dies in rioting, 1 crore is released by the CM. Offers Govt job to an anti-social family member.

A terrorist is killed, they become martyrs, discussions go on for years together on TV channels making them familiar faces. If he or she is from a particular community, majority of that community leaders' views are elicited and propogated.

Almost all the political class reach out to the spot and score their political points over the opponents.

But no TV Channel has time to report deaths of soldiers die in course of their dangerous duties not any Govt release adequate compensation. Same is the scenario of the farmer's deaths.

A Civil employee is disabled (on line of duty), he is continued in the job till he attains the age of superannuation, but not the jawan. The Govt throws him out  with a measly DP D element when he is disabled.

THIS HAPPENS ONLY IN OUR BHARATH DESH.

WHY THE ARMY AUTHORITIES MAINTAIN SILENCE ON THESE ISSUES?.

IF YOU DO NOT ASK, YOU WON'T GET ANYTHING.

The soldier pays premium for his life and not the Govt. So he offers his life for free to the nation.

While a host of people, politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, Babas of sorts, tricksters, cheats and fraudsters, are bleeding the Nation to death, the first two are hell bent in bleeding the Nation's defenders to death, while the rest, too busy in admiring their own pyrotechnics, indifferently watch the sordid drama unfold day-in & day-out.

The never heard before shameless justification, being doled out of late, by not just those who are causing it, but even by some of us, trying to curry favour with the powers that be is, "No body asked them to be soldiers, They chose to be one of their own volition".

Shame, shame and more shame to these betrayers of the Defenders of the Nation.

Defenders of a Nation, the world over, not just in dictatorships, are compensated abundantly, not only with pelf but with an incessant shower of honour, dignity and most of all - Love.

One example of the free-bee the soldier gives to the Nation:

The market rate of premium for 'Normal Life Insurance' (without covering war and other risks of war and terror ops) cover of INR 1 crore is an ANNUAL premium of Rs 4000.

What the soldier is made to pay for volunteering to be one :

Army Group Insurance Scheme charges monthly insurance premiumfor a sum assured of 50 lakhs and 25 lakhs for Officers & JCOs respectively as follows : -

(a)    Officers         -    Rs 5000

(b)    JCOs              -    Rs 2500

(Deducted from their salaries.)

The premium paid by soldiers is about 220% higher than normal due to the additional war and terror risks. Govt does not subsidize  a penny, because the soldier chose to be one on their own volition, so must not only risk their lives for the Country as part of their self-chosen jobs, but also pay in cash for doing so. Is that clear my dear Dr Watson?

The salaries of the officers who are posted to HQ AGIF to manage these activities are again paid from corpus raised from the salaries and not by the Govt. (The money is refunded to CDAs by AGIF).

In democracies around the world, every soldier is insured regardless of rank for a monthly premium of 27 dollars for a huge sum assured ($ 4 lakh for US soldiers) at govt expense.

  1. A soldier retired during 1994 was covered extended Group Insurance for only Rs 1 lakh and its validity expires after 20 years ie 2014. A sepoy retired at the ages of 38 years on completion of normal prescribed tenure of service applicable to the rank of Sepoy will have no insurance cover when he complete 20 years after the date of retirement. If the demise of veterans occures after completion of 20 years retired life, his family is not entitled for a single paisa as per the existing policy. How ever a lot of changes have been introduced for the present retirees.A soldier served for the nation deserves for respect and regards and coverage of Insurance of the soldier needs to be extended for entire life period. Additional premium if required may be deducted from the pension entitlement of the veterans for extending the coverage for the life period so that the family of the soldier will be financially benefitted when he passes away.

  2. Why can't the nation legislate a law to club all military personnel both serving and retired with their spouse and kins into "ORGANISED MILITARY VOTERS"with the well deserved options to vote for any MP or MLA candidate across the country or state respectively why should a parliamentary or state legislature candidate be imposed on military voters. Why should the defence forces be treated as politically untouchables. In which respect a poets, musicians and film celebrities are more patriotic than a soldier to deserve President's nominations to the Rajya Sabha. Why can't at least five RS nominees be from Defence Forces. Why should Military Voters be forced to vote for a candidate who does not merit his vote. When will the political untouchablity of Defence Forces end ?

  4. A dacoit is honoured as a minister in the central government and her family is pensioned out, what a parody? People die in accidents, they are compensated, and anti social activities are resorted by other organised sectors to gain from the government, the government bends respectfully conceding them. But a soldier who ensures security for the whole country is slighted just saying that his role is trivial as compared to the rest of the organised sector for yang for the nation is an unskilled job, different from working from the safe environments of climate controlled offices. The Parliamentarians and legislators will soon be blessed with a five to seven fold increase in their pay and perks, and the bureaucrats bless themselves with heavy allowances for their specialised services to the nation. But when they come to the soldiers, they think of wasting goes in then skilled labour. What a funny governance by these so called leaders?

  5. To be a soldier one needs that special gene, that extra something, that enables a person to jump into one on one combat, something, after all, that is unimaginable to most of us, as we are simply not brave enough. Still the bureaucrats think that they are superior for he got only bookish knowledge. Anyway soldiers are not trained for retire without a tough fight.

  8. At last ! Intellectuals among soldiers are now analysing and printing those on going disparties and hypocracies in GOI for the benifit of passive fraternity of veterans.
Naturally ,these have to be addressed and resolved .
    Resolutions are mandatory ;
Sooner or later .Earlie, the better for the Nation.
Naturally , more minds of soldiers will be at It. Watch out .

    1. ToI report suggests that Chief is the second highest paid soldier on planet.
IDSA report, under MoD, on military pay is part of 7 CPC and now the chief. Soldier, as nationalist, must come free to the nation and with volition

  10. It is true that to be a solider, one needs that special 'gene',that extra something that enables a person to jump into one on one combat.....if it so why 'soldier -line-quality'(SLQ) is not a part of selection/recruitment criteria like 'OLQ'.
