Manohar Parrikar: We have ensured borders are sealed; not many encounters these days

After playing homage to Kargil war heroes, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said, "We are doing our job properly. I don't think there are many encounters these days."

After playing homage to Kargil war heroes, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said, “We are doing our job properly. On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas several leaders including the Prime Minister have saluted the soldiers who laid down their lives for the country. PM Narendra Modiin a series of tweets said, “”We recall with pride, the firmness demonstrated by India’s political leadership in 1999, which ensured a decisive victory in Kargil.” “”India will never forget the fearlessness with which our courageous soldiers gave a befitting & unforgettable reply to the intruders,” he tweeted, adding, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas I bow to every valiant soldier who fought for India till the very last breath. Their heroic sacrifices inspire us.”

Lt. General DS Hooda, the Northern Command Chief said, “We are much much prepared today, I can say with absolute confidence that Kargil-like situation won’t arise again.” “This year there have been more infiltration attempts as compared to last year,” he added. Meanwhile, four militants were today killed and another apprehended by security forces during an encounter in Naugam sector near the LoC in Kupwara district of Kashmir.
The 1999 Kargil war took place between India and Pakistan, between May-July. The conflict was triggered after Pakistani soldiers occupied key positions on the Indian side of the Line of Control in Kargil sector. The war officially came to an end on July 26, 2016.
