DEMONETISATION :: A Note of Dissent - By Tufail Ahmad
It's about a month since #demonitisation began. We are seeing extremely poor implementation of this programme. It doesn't seem to me that the Modi government was prepared to execute it efficiently. As of now, people are still returning from queues at ATMs and banks empty handed. The fact that BJP leaders and ministers are day and night tweeting about going cashless is also an indication that the government is unable to deliver cash to people. The presumption behind cashless is that cash will be available the moment you desire it.
I do not see any government leader in a position to assure people by what date queues will disappear. In fact, the king of foreign ministry has gone on television to tell the people that less cash will be released into economy now. If your blood is boiling at my this post, then let me say that I will support demonisation of all Indian currencies so that my barber knows that he must quickly get on to the cashless machine.
The poor and the middle class Indians are still queuing -- some are dying in queues and at least one woman gave birth to a baby in queue. Meanwhile, the rich can get new currencies at telephone calls to bank staff.
If the queues continue beyond December, the Modi government may start preparing for its funeral.
To start off with a Joke-
Just told my maid that i will transfer her salary on line.
She said she will work from home
Though I was keen on DM move but its implementation on ground zero has been almost ZERO.
Unless MODI KICKS THE FM AND HIS TEAM, AND IMPROVES THE SITUATION FOR AVAILABILITY OF CASH, HE AND HIS GOVT WILL BE BIDDING GOOD BYE TO THE GOOD WILL OF AAM ADMI SOON.
I agree with Tufail Ahmad here..
