HOW OUR OWN TREAT US

😕
From the FB post of a veteran :

Yesterday was a hot day yet our family went to an Army hospital for a medical required for the Swimming Pool pass form for my family.

Refused - saying that retired persons were not their burden and we had to get it done by the ECHS Polyclinic. These were the orders of the Brig IC Medical.

Went to ECHS polyclinic only to be told - sorry we will not do it, since we were retired officers (doctors) we are not entitled to do it.

My family was in tow, there were questions in my son and daughter's eyes, even my wife had a quizzical look.

There were lots of options.

But on an impulse I went to the nearest bazar and walked into a Civilian Doctor's clinic. I went to him and introduced myself as a veteran and told him the purpose for which I had come.

In five minutes, he had checked us and signed the form.

I asked him how much to pay and he gave a smile and said "Nothing!"

What can I say of this incident?

People (both veterans and serving soldiers) are crying for OROP.

They are crying foul, about bureaucrats, politicians, about the whole world.

Though a small yet insignificant story, shows how we are, both serving and retired, in our attitude towards our own kind.

What the heck are we expecting from anyone?

Do you feel my son and daughter will be motivated to don the uniform?
Where is the Army we used to be proud of?

  1. I think Brig sahib will not retire. Their some officers not all have bad behaviour that we are foreigners. This thing some time seen in station canteen where a sepoy teach the rule to even to retd Hony officers. One day they will become veterans. I think army seniors officers should issue some circulars that good behaviour will praised by every body. Like mentioned about a civil doctor.

  2. That is not strange. In spite of the strict regulation that the gas cylinders are to be supplied to the house of the consumers, the recent Station Commander of Bareilly AF Station stopped the supply of gas cylinders to the homes of ex-servicemen residing outside. For a stretch of more than 3 months, I paid 100 rupees for rickshaws every time I brought a cylinder. Had it been an agency owned by a civilian, many of us would have approached the consumer court to complain against inadequate service and remittance or fares.

  4. There is total disdain, disregard and disrespect for the veterans even in the Military and in turn Military gets the same treatment from the Babus. They are very observant and understand the darker side of military bureaucracy. Such happenings are rampant and taking place every where. Unless there is a law that says humiliating a veteran is criminal offence, nothing will improve especially in military medical profession.

  5. ECHS refused to orthodontic treatment of my 16 yrs son being orthodontic treatment facility not auth to dependents of veterans in private through ECHS as well as service dental centre. If Army auth treat us like "Dhobi's Donkey" then no fault of civ babus for not giving OROP to veterans.

  7. Every Indian Army Officer is different from other rank, he is modified an angrej and behave like an angrej in Independent India. I think it will be dangerous in future for India. Please direct and educate the Officer in Mil Academy how to behave with a Jawan. Now a days all other rank are equal educated like officer.
