BREAKING NEWS - OROP: VETERANS MAY MEET MODI NEXT WEEK

New Delhi, Aug 19 (PTI) Representatives of ex-servicemen, who have been protesting for the implementation of ‘One Rank One Pension’ (OROP) scheme for the last 66 days, are likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week.
“The dates have not been fixed yet. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will meet Modi on August 23 or August 24 and then we will be informed,” Maj Gen Satbir Singh (Retd), Chairman of Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM) told PTI here.
Col Anil Kaul (Retd), Media Adviser to the United Front of Ex-Servicemen, also said the meeting is on the cards. “No dates have been fixed so far. It could be between August 24-26,” he said, adding that Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag had spoken to both Maj Gen Satbir and Lt Gen Balbir Singh (Retd), President of IESM.
Stepping in to pacify agitating ex-servicemen, Prime Minister’s Office yesterday held talks with representatives of the protesters who have agreed not to escalate their agitation for next 10 days.
The meeting with Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Nripendra Misra at the PMO came on a day when a third veteran joined the fast-unto-death at Jantar Mantar here, where the ex-servicemen have been protesting demanding early implementation of OROP.
In a statement issued today, the ex-servicemen said Maj Gen Satbir Singh and Lt Gen Balbir told Misra that if government was serious about the interest of es-servicemen, it would have initiated action on the two other promises made in manifesto of BJP – martyrs memorial and establishment of veterans’ commission to be chaired and manned by ex-servicemen. “Misra was taken by surprise and immediately called Secretary MOD and asked to be briefed soon on both the issues.
The meeting ended without any assurance from both sides,” the statement said.

  1. Dear sir,

this is one of the dilatory tactics adopted by the MODI to gullible ex army people, I do not think he will invite us even provisional date is not given by him, the next day he will fly on world tour for that no out put is forthcoming for his foreign tour

    1. Yes you are right. No out put from his tours
      Except loss to the Nation.
May be no investment will be forthcoming
      Since they cannot trust him.

  4. Current pensioners post 2006 receive full pension at 20 years service. Will that be applicable to pre2006 pensioners once OROP is implemented.

Please ignore my earlier comment on this.

  5. I kindly request the veterans who are meeting PM within a week, not to fall into a trap of PMO, you may end up meeting only PMO officials, I have full faith in General Satbir Singh, officials of PMO can turn tables, we got to talk only to PM nobody else, Regards

  6. There is no value of JSOs/OR after retirement because all the officers have been fully settled and who are employed are taking salaries upto two lack and above and they are trying to getting 75% of orop fund out of 8300 crors, therefore no means of declaration of orop. This is the actual fact not to implement the orop.
