It is time Veterans stop being selfish and think of retired JCOs & OR, the under-privileged lot.

Respected Col Rajan Srinivasan Sir and Cdr Chandra Sekhar Sir

Thanks a lot and Kudos to your kind heartedness and empathy for ORs/JCOs.

Your befitting reply to Col Venugopalan (an octogenerian) to keep his trap shut, deserves all praise from the ORs/JCOs community.  And other like minded officers like Col VG may also note and desist their temptation to comment, as they did nothing to uplift pathetic conditions of ORs, when they were vested with the powers to help while serving.

Thanks once again Sir.  I am inspired to post all these views in this blog.

As a Second Lieutenant, I got Rs350+Rs 50 KMA +Rs 75 as "something" a total of Rs 475?/ Today as a retired Colonelabove 80 years of age, I'm getting More than One lac as my pension. Honestly, please tell me, Kadyan, Satbir and other self styled messiahs of OROP veterans, why and what should I crib for?

Please learn to sing o "Kurai onrum illai man moorthi kanna.... padayappa..."

Believe me. a chronic cribber will remain miserable for ever.

Ohm Shanti !

Respected Veteran Col Venugopal,
Jai Hind.
1.       I see that you are pre 1960 commissioned and are 80+ years of age. I am glad that as Col you are drawing Rs. One lakh as Pension incl 20% of Basic Pension + DA entitled to Pensioners who are between 80-85 years. It is indeed nice to hear from a Pensioner that he is happy with the Pension he is receiving. And, why not? Rs. One lakh is not a small amount. But have you ever thought of Sepoys who retire after 15-16 years service, who are in receipt of a meager pension; and, especially those who retired prior to 1 Jan 2006? If you say, NO; I wish to ask you: why not? And, what have you done to ameliorate their suffering?
2.       Have you ever taken part in any of the rallies org by IESM and other ESM Org appealing to the Govt for grant of OROP? If yes, where & when? If not, why not? You may say that you are 80+ years. That does not matter. At ESM rallies org at Bangalore, officers of 80+ years age, of the rank of Lt Gen and Air Mshl & Admirals have taken part standing shoulder to shoulder with retired JCOs, NCOs & OR, a large number of them 80+years of age. And, what have you done? Nothing. Respected Veteran Col Venugopal, you have done nothing
3.       It is on receipt of an email from Maj Gen Satbir Singh, (presently, Chairman IESM) in the first week of April 2008, that, we at Bangalore organized the first ESM Rally on 28 April 2008; followed by a number of Rallies incl return of Medals, signing of Petition in Blood, Fast for Justice, etc. It is on account of ESM Rallies and Fast for Justice org at numerous places in the North, South, East & West that OROP became a reality. And not on account of Veterans like you. And your Basic pension having gone up from Rs.26,050/- to Rs. 36,130/- on account of grant of OROP, without doing anything towards the cause, you now have the temerity to lecture others quoting a Tamil poem.
4.       Sir, you are a selfish Veteran; for people like you are interested in only looking after their interest; and couldn't care less about retired JCOs & OR, the under-privileged lot. Sir, you having done nothing for grant of OROP, the least you can do is sit tight; and, stop farting.
Regards,
Col Rajan

Dear Col Rajan,

You gave a very befitting reply. Thanks.

Most officers with or without second career would be happy now but there are hardly anyone concerned who care for less fortunate brothers.

Very rightly said that if you can't do anything you can keep quiet rather than questioning others who are trying to do something.

  2. We live in competitive and comparative world.
Kindly tell which govt servant goes home at age earlier than 60 yrs.
If its military, then what extra does it get comparatively or to compensate the same.
Please understand we even pay for our exorbitant life insurance premiums and not to forget signing our life bond whenever required.
Any idea how much a judge , bureaucrats or a DRDO scintist of age 80 yrs get .. just for comparison.
Hope its not senility or dementia working.

Thank you all those who oppose the ideals of his self serving nature. once in army no JCO and Officer was available to steer the signal brigade, one CHM from MT took responsibility for administration, I took the charge of communication we ran the brigade without hassles for more than two months , not even a single untoward incident took place

one brigadier naresh kumar appreciated our efforts though we were not what is leadership, command and control
