BJP defends Arun Jaitley, says govt committed to end OROP deadlock

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday reiterated its stand on ending the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme deadlock, after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley virtually rejected a key demand of ex-servicemen asking for parity in pensions, saying the latter’s comment has been ‘misinterpreted’.
“This is a misinterpretation of his (Arun Jaitley) comments. The prime minister has said this from the ramparts of Red Fort that he will try to solve the OROP. The process is conducted at the highest level,” said BJP leader M J Akbar.
He also said the government is fully committed to solve the deadlock and the highest officials of the country are engaged in finding out the answers.
On Monday Jaitley said the OROP scheme couldn’t hike an ex-soldier’s dues annually, as demanded by former war veterans, saying, it wasn’t done anywhere in the world and would be a liability for future generations.
“I have my own formula on what OROP means. Somebody else may have their own formula on OROP, but it has to be within a reasonable and rational criteria. You can’t have an OROP where pensions are revised every month, or every year,” said Jaitley.

  1. Dear sir,

OROP definition is like constitutional right of ex service personnel. no body can like jaitley misinterpret or add his own conception to devalue it. saying so no country is sanctioning annual increment, may I ask some questions to FM

    (1) who shortened the period of MP to get full pension from five years to six months

    (2) all perks meant for MP is tax free even their pension

    (3) five year completed MP is entitled for rs 20000 pension plus dearness allces and every one year above five year he is entitled for rs 1000, how much you jaitley is getting the pension in the event of kicked out from parliament

    (4) other countries provide absorption in civil employment, maximum pension that you have not taken into account only for denying the justified and accepted increment 3%

    (5) first of all you are not a full fledged MP you are rejected by the people of india in the lok sabha election, that is the reason you the only man putting all hurdles to ex service people, you have entered into the lok sabha through back door

    (6) if you are not able to sanction 3% hike quietly you demit your office, some good samaritan may come and solve the problem

    (7) you the only man is creating all sorts of trouble to ex army people, it is your time you are kicking us, time will not be in favour of you

  2. Dear Honourable Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitleyji, do you know what you are advocating in your statement about giving 3% hike every year to defence vetarans? You being a wakil sab how can you lead the Nation as a Finance Minister that too with back door entry? Do you please mind the language used by Shri Ramjethmalani about you, why are you so firm of making Mr Ramjethmalani statement as true in your case. If you think Mr Ramjethmalani made derogatory remarks against you, then why dont you dare to go to the court? Now let us come about 3% increase in the pension of vetarans. As you aaid othr segments also demand for it. Has any one demanded you or you are fascinating them to demand? Except AF every one is retiring at 60 yrs service and till 60 years service you are giving 3% plus every year in their full pay scales. What we retired people or getting, just 50% right from the age of 35, and you think our demand for increase for 3% of pension which is 50% of serving people is unreasonable? Do you have any logic in saying so?

  4. Dear Friends
Unless aj is relocated to some other portfolio, OROP
Issue is difficult to be resolved basically due to his attitude towards Armed Forces.
    Regards Jai Hind

  5. Mr. FM's advisers (of all departments) please put down facts and figures on the paper for the public to see. If there is any merit in what you say, in the interest of the country I am sure that vets will accept it.

  6. I wonder whether shri Arun Jaitley is above Indian parliament. Parliament has already accepted a definition of OROP & lo and behold here comes a wakil saab saying he has another definition! And why nobody in BJP is correcting him? Is he above BJP itself?

  7. We have to be cautious while buying favour from a lawyer like renowed sri Ram Jethmalaniji who in one of his interview recently appreciated the Hurriyat Conf by saying they are not the separatist whom not only India (Indian Army) but whole of the world including darling Pakistan describes them separatist.Needless to say what exactly they are, specially for, those who have fought their nuisances in the valley. They are the terror mongers only. At the behest of such people we should not loose our sainikpana. OROP will come soon without buying favour from any one. Sri Jaitliji"s word should be studied in its entirety specially when he favours valour JAWAN required to be looked after by the state and its exchequour who is least paid at the young age of 35/37 yrs.

  8. Mr Jaitly, FM will lead the BJP in the deep water, Mr Modi please be careful from this fellow of BJP because the public has not accepted him in the election and defeated him. Mr Modi has lead him in the Parliament by back door.He is not in favour of party future, he is the old congressee.

  10. I still wondering as to why this FM was barking up the OROP tree for its implementation while in Rajya Sabha when BJP was in opposition.
