New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised defence minister Manohar Parikkar and the Indian army for their role in the surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control in Kashmir on 29 September.
After dedicating the newly built war memorial-Shaurya Samarak- in Bhopal to the nation, Modi told a gathering of ex-servicemen that, “When I said our army does not believe in speaking, critics would say Modi is sleeping, is doing nothing. But, our army does not speak but displays its valour. So does our Defence Minister.”
Modi also said that it was his government which delivered on the longstanding demand of ‘One Rank, One Pension’ from our soldiers. “The demand for OROP was persisting for years. We had promised it will become a reality and this is exactly what happened.”
Early in his speech, Modi paid tributes to the armed forces and their role in defending the nation and during peace times. “When we think of our armed forces we remember their valour. We also recall with pride their role during a natural disaster”
Before Modi, defence minister Manohar Parrikar also thanked the armed forces for their valour. “The inauguration is happening at time when our soldiers displayed their extraordinary valour on 29 September.”

  2. Dear Modiji... When we voted for you we had an impression that you too were a man of less words and pure action. We soldiers have seen your action in excellent systematic decline of the pay, perks and izzat of the forces. Guess you too acted as per your pree election promices and Gabe us what you had promised. It appears you have backtracked on your promise. We still believe that you are being misled by the strong babu lobby.... Let us see you act and speak less on the issue of VII CPC for the fauj... And the faujis getting what is due to them.
